About Kentucky Boy

I am a 52 year old man (that's me on the right) with 3 daughters, 1 granddaughter and a wife.  I hope that I have a lot more life left to live, but I was diagnosed with Cryptogenic Cirrhosis of the Liver in 2005.  Since I was diagnosed, I have lost my health care coverage and need a transplant as soon as possible or I will die.  The transplant center at MUSC will not put me on the transplant list until I can show that I have insurance or I can show that I have $200,000 available to me............this number might as well be 1 million.  I have applied for Medicaid, no word.  I have applied for disablity, turned down and trying again.........I guess they are just waiting for me to pass away before I will be deemed sick enough.  My liver is failing me.  Every day is started with nausea and vomiting.  My spleen is enlarged, white blood count is at 1.8 and platelet count is at 42,000.  If any body out there has any advice for me, please share it!!  I am desperate to find some answers and get on the list for a new liver and the start of a brand new life!!!  My liver disease was caused by a contamination site in Harlan, Kentucky where I'm from.  My mother died from this disease and I have 2 cousins that have already had a transplant.  My brother is just starting to show signs of this disease as well.  The company that did this contamination was Cooper Industries.

I am without anyone right now that is willing to do that. if anyone has any ideas that would be helpful or any questions.

I have asked friends and church's to donate things to the garage sale i am having for her. Could anyone help us she is so scared that she is going to die because she can't pay  for the transplant and i would be a lot more releived knowing that my mom is not crying in the mornings and worrying all day making herself more sick. She is at home currently just got home from being in the hospital for a month because her liver is failing and  she did getvery sick but they have her at home now the doctor's said she needed to be at home until they are ready to give her a new liver. NONILOVE

About NONILOVE

Hi, I am a 40 year old femal living in Florida. I had a kidney transplant in 2005 after being on dialysis for 6 years. In 2006 I had a heart attack and now have been recently diagnose with Autonomicdysfunction which makes it impossible to stand for longer than 5 minutes. Just recently I learned that my antirejection meds will no longe be covered even though I am on disability. I do get some coverage but not full coverage and for me to take all my pills and still be able to take insulin (I am diabetic) It will cost me close to 1000.00 a month. My disability check is only 1200 as as of the 22nd of this month they will be shutting my electricity off and my water will be shut off on the 21st. Needless to say this will not matter because with 200.00 a month I won't be able to afford the rent. I have been thinking of places that stay open 24 hours where I might be able to go from place to place and I can go to the er room every once in a while for food and a decent night sleep (medicare will pay for that) but how am I suppose to pay for these medications after this month? I have already spoken wiith Medicare, Medicaid and pfiser the company who makes the drug I need most. I supposedly am getting as much help that is allowed. If any one is in this situation, knows someone in this situation or has delt with it and has some answers please let me know. I am not able to get on the internet often, only sometimes like now I am in a coffe shop with internet access and this great lady is letting me borrow her computer. Please any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

About Tom042

Hi:

My name is Tom, While I am on Dialysis and in need of a kidney, the organ is not what I'm asking for.  I have faith in the system that the right organ will be found through the donor system for me.  If you are not a donor, please consider signing up for it and telling your family about your decision.  One person who is a donor can change so many lives.

Now my problem is one that will eventually face every organ recipient at some time.  There is a crushing cost of medicines that I must be able to pay for if I am to keep the transplanted kidney alive. The immunosuppressants and other medicines can cost anywhere from $2500 a month and upwards.

There is little governmental help, but it runs out quickly.  Private insurance is difficult, if not impossible to pick up, except through an employer, and that still leaves a large co-payment.  Some drug companies will help, but that is only after the government has stepped aside and medical bills are already piling up.

So if anyne has ideas on how to offset the costs of the medicines, either through a gifting program or a third party charity (as to not interfere with my government subsidies until after the transplant and I get a job) please let me know.

We look for advices, money and any help. Thanks!

Time is limited !!!

Life is a chain of events, road that leads us though bright peaks and dark valleys. Nobody knows what the next day will bring us.

May be some of you have met Gergana – young and smiling girl. She never complains and doesn’t want to disturb anyone’s happiness with her problems, so just a few people know that she fights Diabetes already for 19 years. Her diagnose is Diabetes Type I. Her childhood passed between screenings, tests and hospitals. How much strength she needed, despite these difficulties, to be able to be one normal child, a girl, that has friends, enjoys their company and loves singing.

For the last 4 years, Gergana lives with her family in Las Vegas, Nevada. Unfortunately, the disease is rare, progresses, leads to complications and is harmful for other organs. For the last 2 years Gergana has had 4 surgeries: 2 cataract surgeries on both eyes and 2 glaucoma surgeries on the left eye, which have not brought the expected results and let to loss of vision with that eye. Constant use of multiple antibiotics and drugs caused severe harm to her kidneys too.

Since August 2007 the situation is critical. Gergana needs dialysis three times per week! The doctors suggest an urgent kidney transplant.

The disease and her condition do not allow Gergana to work or study, and there is no way for her to obtain health insurance and she was refused any financial aid from the government. So far, Gergana’s family is struggling with its own efforts and money to make payments on the numerous bills; to go to work and to spend long hours in the hospitals and doctors offices with their daughter, and at the same time to keep faith and hope! There are clinics that can make the transplant, but the family cannot afford it.

PUBLISHED BY BULGARIAN-AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF NEVADA

Please, make a donation

Additional information: Gergana is 26 year old and she has a Green Card - she is legal permanent resident of Nevada, USA.

We - Bulgarian-American Association of Nevada and friends of this family, are trying to find additional information and to collect money to help Gergana. Her family needs information, legal and financial help. Is there any way to find health insurance plan for her.
(Her mother has health insurance, but due to Gergana's age, she cannot be added to the plan. Do you know any other way?)

KIDNEY DONOR NEEDS HELP PAYING BILLS AFTER DONATION

Hi Everyone,
I am a 26 year old female who has been BACK on dialysis for the last 8 years now. I've been sick since I was 13, and it has been very rough on me physically and emotionally. I've attempted suicide multiple times but God willing, I survived. I've been on the kidney list (UNOS) for 8 years now with no results unfortunatly. I'm just so tired of dialysis every M-W-F at 6:15am for 3 hours. I'm so young and I haven't been able to experince life to the fullest because of this illness. I feel like I'm alive, but not living. I want to really LIVE! I have dreams of becoming a crime scene analyst one day, and to have a family like a normal woman. My brother finally took the test and he is a match. The only problem is that he is a blue collar worker who has a fiance and 3 kids that he supports by being a machine operator. He tells me that he will donate me this kidney that I desperatly need, but he needs around $3,000 to pay all his bills for the month or so that he would be unable to work. I was so mad at him for a while for even puting a price on my life, because if it was the other way around, I would do it for free in a heartbeat. But recently we had a long talk, and he said that he loves me and would love to donate just like that, but he has responsibilities that he still has to take care of, and if he doesn't work...his family doesn't eat. I've talked to my social worker and he tells me that the state pays medical expenses for him but that's it. And by me being on SSI...there is no way possible for me to come up with that kind of cash. So this goes out to all the good people in this world....."I feel like the living dead....can someone make my dream of just "living" possible?  If you would like to send a money order you can send it to:

Fox Valley Dialysis

ANY AMOUNT HELPS!!!!!
Thank you and God Bless

Tanisha S.

I found out at 27 that due to my 3 month premature birth I am in need of a lung transplant. It took me 2 yrs to want to care about myself enough to do something about it. I became inspired by someone who I met online who encouraged me not to give up. I met someone later online in Pittsburgh who I saw myself in when I had no hope; I tried to encourage this person but to not avail- however this inspired myself to go even farther.

I am currently being watched by the UPMC transplant team, but not on the list. This has made my bi polar diagnosis worse, however.

To keep myself busy and because I love law, I am in college for a 2 yr associates degree in paralegal studies of which I am in my 2 of 4 semesters. An atty friend lets me come into his office for something to do, but cannot afford to pay me but peanuts.

I am desperately trying to find money to pay for college and to pay for my ongoing yearly evaluations which come out of my pocket.

To anyone wanting to know more about me, to anyone wanting to make a substantial donation- please email me directly at hoover.paralegal @ yahoo.com. If anyone is a God send to make a substantial donation to either I will provide you with bonafide documentation of my condition/s.

Feel free to email me with any advice, help or donations- thank you kindly! Becca

If you find it in your heart to help me with a donation- please send to

Hoover Transplant Fund

502 N Hyde Park Ave

Scranton PA 18504

I am completely happy to provide you with documentation on my situations and conditions. Thank you kindly.
